Production Plants
Continuous Casting
The Casting Plant is equipped with four Continuous Casting Machines of four strands each with a total capacity of 1.8 million tons per year.
The Continuous Casting Plant is equipped with 4 casting machines of 4 strands each.
No.1 and No.2 machines are straight mould type.
The size of billet is:
- • 150 x 150 mm square at a speed of 1.8 to 2.2 meters/minute.
Billets are cut to the length 3~4 meter by hydraulic shear and transferred to Rolling Mill to produce the plain and deformed bars.
No.3 machine commissioned in January 2000 is also of 4 strands but of curved mould type.
The sizes of billets are:
- • 150 x 150 mm square at a speed of 1.8 to 2.6 meter/minute.
- • 130 x 130 mm square at a speed of 2.6 to 3.5 meter/minute.
No. 4 machine (CC2R) which will be commissioned in June 2007 is of 4 strands with curved mould
The sizes of billets are:
- • 200 x 200 mm square at a speed of 1.45 meter/minute.
- • 150 x 150 mm square at a speed of 2.6 meter/minute.
- • 130 x 130 mm square at a speed of 3.5 meter/minute.
Billets from No.3 machine and CC2R are cut to 3~14 meters by gas cutting equipment is each strand. A charge number is punched on each billet by a marking machine and forwarded for further processing to rolling mill/billet customers.

| Salient Features of Plant
|
| » |
On line Tundish Nozzle change system has been implemented in all the three Continuous Casting machines in order to increase the sequence of Continuous Casting Operation and CC Yield.
|
| » |
Slide gate system of Vesuvius LV11 is introduced to ensure higher safety in operation and to reduce the running cost. |
| » |
Ladle shroud Manipulator is introduced for low carbon steel making in No.3 CC machine. |
| » |
Electro-magnetic stirrer will be installed in CC3, to improve quality of billets. |
| » |
By routing the heats through Ladle Furnace reduced the super heat is reduced in casting. |
